When it comes to advanced facial treatments, it can be a bit daunting in understanding what’s involved in the treatment, what results the treatment will produce and if there will be any downtime. So we’ve asked Tina Griffin, Director of Blitz Facial Bar and our resident skin care professional, to provide some insight on 4 of our advanced skin care treatments.

Micro-Needling

Uneven skin tone and texture, acne scars. A handheld micro-pen device is used to create microscopic dermal punctures to address both the outer and dermal layers of the skin. This non-invasive treatment triggers the skin’s natural repair process to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin – both building blocks for firmer skin and cellular turnover. This treatment is ideal for anti-aging. Downtime: you can expect redness and peeling between 1-4 days. Good for: all skin types. Treatments: 3-6, performed 1-month apart. *Only available at our Canadian locations.

Chemical Peels

Acne, pigmentation, large pores. Chemical peels vary in depth and active ingredients, and are designed to help address acne, pigmentation and textural concerns. When a chemical peel is applied to your skin, it stimulates rapid skin cell turnover and it regulates the skin’s oil production. The skin’s top layer will either peel or gently exfoliate, resulting in a brighter and more even complexion. Blitz Facial Bar offers both superficial and medium-depth chemical peels. Downtime: depending on the peel, you can expect redness and peeling between 1-7 days. Good for: all skin types. Treatments: 3-6, performed 1-month apart.

IPL

Rosacea, pigmentation, acne lesions.  A Broadband Light energy is used to target age spots and sun spots, uneven skin tone and enlarged blood vessels that develop under the skin. With each pulse, the light energy is absorbed and as a result, the repair process kicks-in to restore skin tone and colour. IPL also stimulates collagen production, which is a necessary component for healthier and younger-looking skin. Downtown: no downtime. Good for: speak to one of our medical aestheticians who will assess if IPL is a treatment suitable for your skin. Treatments: 3-6 treatments, 2-4 weeks apart depending on what is being treated.

eMatrix

Stimulated collagen production, tightens skin. Sublime and Sublative uses radio frequency via gold-plated micro-needles, to address the skin’s surface and dermal layers. It stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer and tighter skin. It is also highly effective in treating scars. Downtime: you can expect redness, tightness and some flaking 1-7 days. Good for: all skin types. Treatments: 3-6, performed 4-6 weeks apart depending what what is being treated. *Only available at our Brooklyn, NY location.
