From skin tightening to hydrating and pore reduction, different face masks are formulated to address different skin concerns. If you have never used a face mask or do-so periodically, it is time to incorporate one into your skin care regime on a weekly basis. Your skin will be transformed and your cleanser, toner and moisturizer will penetrate better. With so many types of facial masks in the marketplace, it is easy to become overwhelmed in deciding which masks to use, so we are going to break it down for you.

Sleep Masks: Think of a sleep mask as a version of your night moisturizer. As our skin does most of its repairing at night while we sleep, sleep masks are formulated with high-impact ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and vitamin E. They rehydrate, and brighten and plump the skin while we sleep. Though they may leave a sticky residue in the morning, the glowy results will be well worth it.

Clay Masks: Clay masks are no longer used to simply pull out impurities. Mixed with algae and conditioned with various oils, these masks diminish large pores, hydrate the skin and calm inflammation; all the while repairing and protecting the skin’s lipid barrier.

Peel-Off Masks: Formulated with a synthetic agent that leaves a thin layer on your skin that is flaked off, these masks remove impurities, oil, and dirt. They also gently exfoliate the outer layers of your skin resulting in an overall, smoother texture.

Sheet Masks: Originating from South Korea, sheet masks are made of different materials such as paper, silk, fiber, or gel. These sheet masks can be packed with a variety of highly concentrated serums that includes vitamins, anti-oxidants and hyaluronic acid. The advantage of a sheet mask is, the sheet itself extends the penetrating period and it provides a barrier, which prevents the active ingredients from evaporating. The results outperform traditional serum masks with just one simple application.
