We’ve noticed an increase in skin care questions from men, along with a boost in men requesting facials. Therefore, we’ve decided to dedicate this to all the guys out there who would like clear, healthy, and subtle skin. (Ladies, feel free to pass this on.)

There are structural differences between men and women’s skin. Men produce testosterone and because of this, skin is 22% thicker, the texture is tougher, and collagen density is greater.

Men also produce a higher level of sebum. After puberty, oil and sweat productions are greater for men versus women, and as such, men’s skin is more hydrated. On the flip side, this is often the reason why men have longer lasting acne, larger pores, and inflammation.

Due to the higher concentration of collagen production and skin that is more hydrated, men tend to age slower than women. As a result, there can be less interest in taking care of the skin, or following preventative or anti-aging skin care routines.

However, this slower aging process is counterbalanced by constant shaving, sun damage, in-grown hair, razor burn, acne, under-eye circles, and skin sensitivity.

Of course, we suggest having a facial on a regular basis. For example, The Blitz Man addresses shaving irritation, larger pores, inflammation, and exposure to outdoor elements. But, there are some steps you can do at home to help your skin become healthier, clearer, and softer.

If you shave…

  • Use a single blade razor as it will result in less in-grown hairs.
  • Try shaving in the shower. The moisture and heat will open pores and minimize the likelihood of razor burn.
  • Cleanse your face with Blitz Cleansing Gel before shaving. While it is damp, apply Blitz Beard Oil. Shave in the direction of your hair, apply the beard oil again, and follow Blitz Vitamin C Moisturizer and an SPF.
  • Exfoliate, using Blitz Pumpkin Peel or Exfoliating Polish, two times a week in the evening or on days you don’t shave.

If you have a beard…

  • Cleanse your face with Blitz Cleansing Get. Apply Blitz Beard Oil, Blitz Vitamin C Moisturizer, and an SPF.
  • Exfoliate, using Blitz Pumpkin Peel or Exfoliating Polish, two times a week in the evening or on days you don’t shave.
